CONSOLID GS

Liquid Fixing Agent for the Consolidation of Crushed Stone

Description

CONSOLID GS is a single component product based on thermoplastic acrylic resins dissolved in a solvent and resistant to yellowing.

CONSOLID GS after it has dried produces a clear, very tough film that provides a binding and stabilizing effect on materials where it is applied to. The particular solvent mixture provides the appropriate viscosity rate to allow for application with virtually any type of spray equipment (airbrush, airless sprayer with hand pump, etc ...).

CONSOLID GS has a very short tack free time in the air even at temperatures below 15°C and dries quickly from surface to deep. If the film thickness is less than 200 microns, CONSOLID GS exhibits a good permeability to water vapour and preserves the aesthetic characteristics of the surface while inducing a marked toning.

Due to its high-speed drying, treatment with CONSOLID GS is resistant to rain after only an hour. For applications at temperatures below +15°C, a fast drying version named CONSOLID GS FAST is available.

Usage field

CONSOLID GS is an immobilizing polymeric binder specifically designed for the stabilization of gritstone and rubble.

Application
  • The material to be consolidated must be dry;
  • CONSOLID GS shall be applied by spray with either air erogation systems or airless and mechanical dispensers until the gritstone is fully impregnated;
  • the immobilizing/stabilizing effect occurs when the solvent evaporates. It is most important to protect the product from rain while drying.

The immobilizing/stabilizing layer can be regenerated by re-applying fresh product over the existing one.

Product application

Spraying Methods:

Air Sprayer Application (airbrush):

  • nozzle diameter: 1.5 ÷ 2.0 mm
  • fluid pressure: 1.0 ÷ 2.0 bar
  • air pressure: 2.0 ÷ 4.0 bar

Airless Sprayer Application :

  • nozzle diameter: 0.30 ÷ 0.50 mm
  • output pressure: 80 ÷ 130 bar

If necessary dilute with 2 to 5% SOLVENTE PER CONSOLID GS.

Mechanical Sprayer Application:

Due to CONSOLID GS extremely low viscosity, the application can be carried out also using a mechanical pump dispenser (similar to those used with low-viscous liquids for agricultural purposes). In this case, it is important to check the chemical resistance of the erogation system and the nozzles resistance to clogging.
