CONSOLID PU

Non-Yellowing, Consolidating
and Impregnating Agent
for Concrete and Stone Materials

Description

CONSOLID PU is a solution of non-yellowing polyurethane resins that harden due to moisture.

CONSOLID PU is used as an impregnating, consolidating, anti-dust and protective agent on concrete floors and stone materials.

Given its high fluidity and penetrating features, the product can be applied also on low porosity substrates.

Usage field

CONSOLID PU is ideally suited to increase the surface hardness of both "soft" materials and materials which tend to produce dust.

It is therefore perfectly suited for the treatment of highly absorbing an soft natural stone, coloured or uncoloured self-levelling cement-based flooring, coloured or uncoloured concrete surfaces to confer hardness, water resistance to oils and abrasion resistance.

Packaging

1 - 5 and 20 liters metal drums

Application

On new concrete paving:

  • dust and any scales resulting from joints cutting shall be removed by washing thoroughly with water;
  • excess water shall be completely removed ,taking care that no standing water is left behind on the area to be treated;
  • after 1-2 days of drying CONSOLID PU shall be evenly applied with a roller or a brush, preventing accumulation of the product that may alter the appearance of the surface due to an incorrect curing of the product;
  • The product can be applied wet on wet in two (or more) coats, at a maximum interval of one hour between each coat.

On old concrete pavement:

  • degrease with STRIPPER (by insisting over previously existing wax based treatments), rinse and remove all excess water, taking care no standing water is left behind in the area to be treated;
  • after 3-4 days of drying, CONSOLID PU shall be applied as previously mentioned.

On stone artefacts or paving:

  • remove the dust and any existing scale from the surface by washing thoroughly with water or any other hard-surface cleaners (the use of acidic cleaners should be evaluated carefully because it may damage the surface).
  • Particular care must be given while removing any existing use of NORSOL or STRIPPER may be appropriate.
  • Rinse thoroughly and completely remove any excess water, ensuring that no standing water is left behind on the area to be treated.
  • After 1-2 days of drying, CONSOLID PU shall be evenly applied with a roller or a brush, preventing accumulation of the product that may alter the appearance of the surface due to an incorrect curing of the product.

The product can be applied wet on wet in two (or more) coats, at a maximum interval of one hour between each coat.

On not very absorbent and hard stones, the product shall be used as a consolidating agent of any existing friable parts and can be left on the surface to exert a film-forming polishing effect.

Average Consumption

Average consumption on concrete: 150-200 g/m2, depending on the porosity of the substrate.

The coverage for applications on natural stone greatly depends on the porosity and ranges from a minimum of 100 g/m2 on porphyry to a maximum of 3000 g/m2 on Ostuni white stone (penetration up to more than 2 cm in three or four coats).

For vertical application, proceed with laying several coats ranging from 150 to 200 g/m2 and give enough amount of time for the complete evaporation of the solvent in between each coat in order to avoid accumulation of product in the lower part of the artefact.
