Waterproofing Osmotic Cement

NORDCEM is a special inorganic cement with osmotic properties. Once dissolved in a solvent it is capable of penetrating into the substrates micro-revices, chemically react stabilizing the calcium hydrate and irreversibly precipitate in the form of insoluble micro-crystals which then occlude the internal porosity (chemical waterproofing).

At the same time, NORDCEM gives rise on the surface to a cementitious, pore-free, waterproof layer that is able to resist water counter-pressure.

The chemical nature of the NORDCEM layer allows the substrate perspiration and to maintain the waterproofing effect over a very long period of time.

Usage field

NORDCEM is used for:

  • waterproofing of structures subjected to continuous water pressure (positive or negative), such as basements, foundations, retaining walls, lift shafts, hoists, swimming pools, tanks, canals, tunnels;
  • waterproofing of tanks for the storage of non-potable water.

Advantages - NORDCEM:

  • is a non-toxic coating;
  • allows intervention on substrates saturated with water;
  • is easy and quick to install.

10 and 20 kg bucket

Waterproofing Osmotic Cement

  • Gradually pour in a bucket containing 3 liters of clean water or BETONLATEX the contents of half NORDCEM bag (approx. 12.5 kg) by mixing with a low revolutions mixer until a creamy consistency is achieved;
  • let the mixture rest for 5 minutes;
  • stir again and proceed with the application.

Wetting of the Surface

  • Particular care must be taken to achieve the correct degree of saturation of the surface with water before starting the installation: the surface must be repeatedly wet in order to keep the surface very moist without having a thin, percolating layer of water.
  • If it is a very dry and/or windy day, the substrate must be kept constantly wet in order to provide appropriate conditions of installation.

Application according to the substrate

On concrete:

  • remove all iron spacers (cut them until at least 1 cm inside the concrete), nails and bolts/plugs;
  • open any existing cold shuts;
  • realize the cove joint in the corners between horizontal and vertical surfaces. Compensate and fill with NORDGROUTH TIXO following the instructions written on the Technical Data Sheet;
  • wet up to saturation;
  • apply NORDCEM (grout consistency) with a mason's brush made of nylon fibers.

On masonry walls and retaining walls:

  • Build a waterproof plaster as follows:
  • wet thoroughly and prime with SUPERLATEX;
  • apply a rendering coat made with NORDGROUTH TIXO;
  • the day after bathing and apply for a NORDCEM consumption of 2 kg/m2 on;
  • wait 8 hours and apply at least 1cm NORDGROUTH TIXO thick layer;
  • the day after wet it and apply a finishing coat of NORDCEM.

Warning and informations
  • Apply at temperatures between +5 and +30°C.
  • During the application, NORDCEM keep out form direct strong sunlight.
  • To lay a second coat on NORDCEM once it has already-cured for a few days, the new product shall be mixed with BETONLATEX instead of water alone;
  • Approximately half an hour after the preparation of the mix, an initial setting occurs leading to a subsequent thickening: mix and add a little amount of water to be able to continue using the product.

24 months in original packaging, in a covered, dry place at temperatures between +5°C and +35°C. Moisture sensitive
