Description

NORDRY 100 BASE is a concentrated product of water-repellent compounds with functional modification. The product once duly diluted in water and injected, is able to make walls hydrophobic down to the core, saturating the micropores of the treated material and lowering the superficial tension of macro-pores (capillaries) walls.

Usage field

NORDRY 100 BASE is used as a hydrophobizing solution for masonry injections.

  • inexpensively;
  • easily;
  • odorlessly

 

 

The product can be used to make building materials (bricks, tiles, etc..) hydrophobic by immersion.

Application

Drilling:

  • make a series of holes of suitable size for the chosen injection type, e.g. gravity injection at low pressure (0.5÷1.0 bar) or medium pressure (5÷7 bar), using a drill or electric coring machine; holes must be 15 to 25 cm high from the floor;
  • these holes may have an interaxial distance, as measured on the floor, from 15 to 20 cm depending on the porosity of the material to be treated (greater porosity allows a greater distance between the holes) to a depth of 2/3 of the thickness of the wall to be treated;
  • these holes shall be drilled downwards into the masonry at an angle of approx. 15° from top to bottom, proceeding from the outside to the inside of the wall;
  • the ideal system involves the realization of two horizontal series of holes in two rows spaced 15 cm. from each other.

 

 

 

Injection by gravity:

  • is performed with the aid of containers connected to a spreading system inserted into the hole and uses gravity to help product penetration inside the wall.

Injection pressure:

  • this method is to be preferred because reduces intervention times and ensures a better penetration.
  • It is achieved by connecting the specific self-locking injectors inserted inside the holes to a diaphragm pump. The pressure can be varied from 0.5 bar (low) to 7 bar (average), depending on the type of material to be impregnated.
  • Normally, a material presenting a large diameter porosity (macro-porosity) allows a low pressure injection, while a substrate characterized by very thin porosity (micro-porosity) requires the use of higher injection pressures.

How to make materials hydrophobic by immersion:

  • dilute from 10 to 150 times in water depending on the type of material.
  • For best results, you may have to vary not only the concentration, but also immersion time (from 15 to 60 seconds).

Average Consumption

The amount of product to be used depends on masonry absorption and the saturation degree (humidity). We recommend to use for each square meter of a 50 cm thick wall (holes spaced 15 cm apart from each other) from 10 to 20 litres of product, previously diluted in water (1:10).

Warning and informations
  • If the substrate shows capillaries or actual holes, make first a filling injection using NORDCEM (osmotic action concrete) and wait until it is perfectly dry before laying the product.
  • With existing masonry friable joints, drillings should reach down into the bricks, to keep pressure high during the injection phase.
  • Check in advance one or more small areas for any unforeseen incompatibilities.
  • The product has a corrosive action on zinc, lead, tin, aluminium and glass.
  • Please avoid using containers made ​​with the previously mentioned materials and protect from contact part of the manufactured products that may accidentally be corroded by the product itself.
  • Protect your hands eyes and face. In case of contact, wash thoroughly and repeatedly with water.
  • Read the Material Safety Data Sheet (MTDS).

 

Preservation

Store in a dry place between +4 and +30°C.

Stable for at least 6 months.
