One Component Primer
for Absorbent Substrates

RIVLATEX SU is a ready to use mono component primer based on hybrid resins in water dispersion. Once applied, in a very short time this product gives rise to a waterproof, very compact, glossy and elastic film, that adheres well to the substrate and is capable of consolidating and adjusting the surface water absorpion rate while improving the adhesion of tile adhesives. It is specifically formulated for application to plasterboard or prefabricated concrete slabs.

Usage field

RIVLATEX SU is used as an adhesion primer for:

  • bonding ceramic tiles using cementitious adhesives belonging to the MONOTACK series, or with BETON-R and BETON-H, on any surface based on calcium fosphate or cement foam;
  • cementitious overcoating (such as skim coatings, self-levelling coats, plastering) of gypsum-based or anhydrite-based surfaces or plaster coatings on cement-based plaster;
  • small blocks made of terracotta, prior to the laying of the cement-based or gypsum-based plaster.

Substrate Preparation:

  • thoroughly clean and remove all loose particles;
  • the substrate must be free of grease, oil or other residues.

Product Application:

  • mix the product thoroughly before withdrawing;
  • apply by roller or brush, a quantity sufficient to cover the entire surface to be treated. The product is lightly tinted and this helps to identify the areas in which it is already applied;
  • if the surface is particularly smooth, a light sanding is recommended;
  • apply in such quantity as not to form a very thick superficial film as this would undermine the proper drying of the product;
  • if the substrate is poorly absorbent, the product can be diluted with water (ratio 1:1 or 1:2).

Product Curing and Subsequent Applications:

  • RIVLATEX SU fully dries on plasterboard or prefabricated concrete slabs after approx. 2 hours at 23°C and 50% RH to form a slightly sticky, firm and very thin film; once this time has elapsed, it is possible to proceed with the installation of the tiles
