BETON COLOR

Coloured Coating for BETONGUAINA and BETONGUAINA.S

Description

BETON COLOR is a two component polyurethane non- yellowing coloured and weather-resistant coating specifically designed for the aesthetic protection of two components water-based membranes like BETONGUAINA and BETONGUAINA S. The salient properties of BETON COLOR are:

  • perfect adhesion to the membrane without any special surface preparation ;
  • applicable in a single coat;
  • water resistant, it can even be used under continuous immersion;
  • UV resistance and light fastness;
  • discrete vapour permeability of the BETONGUAINA or BETONGUAINA S / BETON COLOR systems.
  • Component A consists of hygro-hardening aliphatic isocyanate prepolymers and is universal for all colours. Component B is made up of fillers, additives, solvents and pigments and it is specifically designed for each single colour.

Usage field

BETON COLOR is the product of choice for the aesthetic finishing of BETONGUAINA and BETONGUAINA S.

Application

Product Application

-         The BETONGUAINA or BETONGUAINA.S surface to be treated must be dry, perfectly clean and free of any loose parts.

-         Open component B. It has a highly viscous, gel-like structure which will turn liquid after thorough mixing (pseudoplastic consistency).

-         Pour component B into component A and mix the two components until achieving a homogenous flooding free mixture;

-         Apply BETON COLOR in one coat with a short haired, solvent resistant roller evenly spreading the product and crossing the roller back and forth.

Laying Instructions

Because of its chemical nature BETON COLOR should be applied to a dry surface: ensure that important phenomena of water vapour transfer from the substrate to which the membrane is applied (such as a screed or concrete) to the exterior side are not occurring.

In fact, when applied on a wet substrate, it is possible that vapour bubbles are formed between the substrate and the membrane, which should not however affect adhesion between BETON COLOR and BETONGUAINA (S).

As a result, there are special precautions to be taken:

-         wait at least 7 days (in conditions of high atmospheric pressure) after the laying of BETONGUAINA or BETONGUAINA S prior to the application of BETON COLOR;

-         if the membrane was applied long time before and the surface is dirty, the surface should be lightly sanded with a 180 grit sand mesh;

-         if the renewal of a surface made up of BETONGUAINA (S) is needed, prior to the application of BETON COLOR, a coat of either BETONGUAINA or BETONGUAINA S can be applied, provided that the substrate is pre-treated with FONDO C60 (see the specific technical data sheet).

Special Instructions

-         At temperatures below +15°C the product can be too viscous for proper application, if this is the case dilute it with 5% of SOLVENTE PER BETON COLOR.

-         Once the two components have been mixed, the product pot life is approx. 3 hours if stored in a tightly closed container. Beyond this time the product undergoes an irreversible degradation evidenced by the formation of "skin" on the surface and an increase in viscosity.

-         Do not dilute the product in order to prolong its useful life.

-         Prior to the application, the product should be kept at room temperature between +15°C and +27°C.

-         Do not apply if rain is imminent or expected.

-         Do not apply when relative humidity is above 85%.

-         Do not apply in two or more coats one over the other.

The application must be carried out at a temperature at least 3°C higher than dew point and never lower than +5°C.

Tool cleaning

Use acetone or nitro before hardening. The cured product should be removed mechanically
