BLACK PLAST W

Waterproofing membrane
fibre-reinforced paste

Description

BLACK PLAST W is a very dense waterproofing paste based on polymers, bitumens, admixtures and special fibres in aqueous emulsion.

After curing the product forms a very thick layer, which is extraordinarily water resistant also when submerged.

The fibres dispersed in the mass make the product particularly suitable as a waterproof coating on vertical or horizontal surfaces, since just one coat is applied by sleeker or float without any need for reinforcement.

Usage field
  • foundation walls, also made with cement blocks (to be protected with suitable spunbonded fabric and plastic coatings prior to filling with earth);
  • tanks and channels;
  • flower boxes and roof gardens (protected with PP, PE film, with spunbonded fabric or drainage layer).

Substrates preparation

(1) Foundations:

  • remove any residues of release agents by water blasting;
  • remove any iron spacers and make good the surface with GROVE RAPIDO (GROVE RIPRISTINO in warm weather);
  • apply a skim coat to any  French drains and make an angle fillet in the corner between the deck and wall using the same products.

(2) Flat surfaces:

  • eliminate the cement laitance by appropriate methods (scarifying) and clean by water blasting;
  • make good the surface if necessary using GROVE PRIMER and GROVE MASSETTO (in this case wait 1 day per cm of thickness for curing to take place).
Product application
  • take the product from the tub using a square tip trowel and spread it onto a smooth steel or plastic float;
  • apply the product onto the surface to be waterproofed, taking care not to exceed the recommended amount for coverage and ensure that the thickness of the layer is even;
  • using the same float, compact and smooth the product (wet the float with water to make work easier, especially in summer).

Curing times

  • The time before applying another coat over the product depends on the temperature and varies from 2-3 days in summer to approx. one week in winter.
  • The product may also be applied at temperatures around 0°C, but must not be allowed to freeze within the first 24-48 hours after application.

Warning and informations
  • Cleaning the tools: with water before the product hardens; with synthetic thinner once the product has dried.
  • The formation of small air bubbles during drying on porous substrates indicates that the quantity of applied product (and therefore the thickness) is insufficient: in this case fresh product must be applied to the surface.
  • BLACK PLAST W is not recommended for waterproofing tanks or channels where there is drinking water or corrosive water.
  • Carefully read the safety sheet
Preservation

24 months in the original packaging, in a sheltered, dry place, at a temperature between +5°C and +35°C.

The product must not be allowed to freeze.
