NORDBLACK

Liquid Waterproofing Membrane

Description

NORDBLACK is a water based waterproofing system made up of a dispersion of elastomeric polymers, bitumen, modifiers, fillers and additives. Once fully cured, the product gives rise to a film that exhibits good waterproof properties and good resistance to sunlight.

Usage field

NORBLACK is specifically designed for the in situ manufacturing of waterproofing membranes reinforced with nonwoven fabric like NYCON F.

It is mainly used in:

  • foundations walls;
  • outdoor and indoor sub-floor layers (protected by a  PP, PE or TNT thick film or other protections).
  • To waterproof planters and roof gardens, the specific anti-root DERADIX additive must be added, before usage, to NORDBLACK that must always be protected by PP or PE films, with TNT or a drainage layer.

Application

Substrate Preparation

1) Foundations

  • remove any existing residue of shuttering release agent, with pressure wash;
  • remove all existing metal spacers and cover them with GROVE RAPIDO (with GROVE RIPRISTINO during  hot weather);
  • shave all existing gravel clumps and make a cove between the floor and the wall using the same products.

2) Flat Surfaces

  • remove cement laitance by scarifying and clean using high-pressure washing;
  • make any fill layers with GROVE PRIMER and GROVE MASSETTO (in this case, allow 1 day each 1 cm thickness for the product to dry).

Application

  • dip the brush or the roller inside the bucket and spread on the wall a first uniform coat ensuring that the substrate is fully coated and saturated;
  • on wet, lay the NYCON F reinforcement and press on the surface with a flat steel spatula;
  • immediately impregnate to excess by applying a second coat of product until the reinforcement is fully impregnated and coated;
  • the next day, ensure that the reinforcement is homogeneously coated: if not, proceed with the application of a final finishing thin coat without reinforcement.

Curing Time

  • Depending on the temperature and the absorption capacity of the substrate, the product coating waiting time varies from 2-3 days in summer to 1 week in wintertime.
  • NORDBLACK can also be applied at temperatures around 0°C, but must not be frozen in the first 24 hours after installation.
Tool cleaning

With water before product hardens, with universal solvent after it has dried;

Average Consumption
  • on vertical surfaces: max 1.8 kg/m2
  • on horizontal surfaces: max 2.2 kg/m2

NORDBLACK can also be applied without armor; in this case, the average coverage is approx. 1.0 to 1.2 kg/m2 in two coats, making sure that:

  • the biggest part of the expected amount to be used is applied in the first coat;
  • the this first coat has almost dried before applying the second coat.

Warning and informations
  • on particularly porous substrates, the formation of air bubbles on the coat of the product is to be considered a normal factor. This phenomenon is not  to be highlighted by using reinforcements;
  • the product can not be applied with more than 1 reinforcement layer;
  • NORDBLACK is not recommended for waterproofing of tanks or channels that contain drinking or corrosive water;
  • please carefully read the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) before use.
Preservation

24 months in original packaging, in a covered dry area at temperatures between +5°C and +35°C.

The product is cold sensitive.
