Description

NORTIG 15 FIBRATO is a fibre-reinforced fluid paste for use on balconies and terraces without the need for reinforcement. When applied to the surface, it forms a coloured film which is resistant to sunlight (IR and UV) and rain, and protects against the weather and stagnant water.

NORTIG 15 FIBRATO is also suited for use in cold climates (down to –20°C).

NORTIG 15 FIBRATO satisfies the requirements of EN 1504-9 (“Products and systems for the protection and repair of concrete structures. Definitions, requirements, quality control and evaluation of conformity. General principles for use of products and systems”) and the requirements of EN 1504-2 (“Systems for the protection of concrete structures”) for class: surface protection products - coatings (Coatings, C) - Protection against ingress (1.3) (Protection against Ingress, PI) (ZA.1d) + Moisture control (2.2) (Moisture Control, MC) and Increasing resistivity (8.2) (increasing resistivity, IR) (ZA.1e).

The product is available in four standards colours: grey, white, red and oxide green.

Usage field

NORTIG 15 FIBRATO is specifically intended for the exposed protective coating of:

  • flat roofs, terraces and balconies;
  • old membranes, guttering, cornices and chimneys;
  • foundation walls, walls and facades.

It is also recommended for bathrooms and showers.

The fibre reinforcement means that the tiles can be glued directly onto the coating (with BETON-H 1), but this should be done for small areas only, since the results of BETONGUAINA/BETONGUAINA.S systems cannot always be obtained in this way.

Application

Surface preparation

First construct the joints between the wall and floor, floor joints and joints with flashing, guttering, through pipes and thresholds using BETONSEAL MS 2.0 and suitable primers.

On sand/cement or concrete screeds:

  • remove any loose material and dust;
  • check and correct any slope, if necessary, with GROVE MASSETTO;
  • check that the joints are properly constructed;
  • remove any cracks with stapling;
  • check that the residual moisture is no more than 4% (carbide method).

On existing tiles:

  • check that the tiles are adhering well to the substrate;
  • strip with STRIPPER and rinse; when the surface is dry, apply a coat of RICRETE 1C or polish with a diamond wheel;
  • check the joints and cracks;
  • correct any slope, if necessary, with GROVE MASSETTO;
  • check that the moisture under the tiles is no more than 4% (carbide method).

On existing bituminous membrane:

  • remove any accumulations of dust;
  • repair any loose parts.

Applying the product

NORTIG 15 FIBRATO is ready to use.

Apply to cross coats of NORTIG 15 FIBRATO (using different colours enables you to monitor the coverage better) with a brush (with 7-8 cm bristles) or a steel or plastic trowel (a rubber scraper with a long handle is also suitable, but special care must be taken when doing so).

Gluing the tile

If applying the tiles directly onto the waterproof coating with BETON-H 1, wait for the coating to set completely first (48 ore in the summer, several days in the winter).

Average Consumption

Effective waterproofing requires a coverage of at least 2 kg/m2, for a nominal thickness of 1.1 mm.

Warning and informations

ü Note that the product is not vapour permeable after installation, so:

  • make sure the screed is not too damp (especially when it has already been tiled): humidity in excess of the permitted value can cause bubbles to form;
  • NORTIG 15 FIBRATO can be applied at ambient/substrate temperature of at least +1°C: take care not to use it when the temperature is liable to drop, i.e. in the late afternoon in winter. It is best applied in the morning to early afternoon.

ü Cleaning the tools: use water when the product is still fresh, or mechanical means when it has set.

Preservation

24 months in closed original packaging, in a dry place at +5°C to +30°C. Do not allow to freeze.
