Primer for damp surfaces

Description

SOLID is a primer for damp surfaces provided within a KIT composed by:

  • SOLID component A: a mixture of water-based epoxy prepolymers, fillers and additives;
  • SOLID component B: copolymer modified amine;
  • SOLID FAST: reaction accelerator;
  • QUARTZ SAND 0.1 to 0.6: quartz dust;
  • EXTRUDER for the extraction of the product from packaging bags.

The kit comes inside a polypropylene drum which serves a double function, i.e.: system mixing container
and both transport and storage package.
When the two components A and B are mixed together, they form a thick, liquid compound specifically
designed for roller application on building surfaces of various nature.
In the case in which the operating temperature should be lower than +12°C, SOLID FAST shall be added
into the mixture (A+B) to accelerate the product crosslinking so as to make it usable up to a minimum
temperature of +4°C.

Usage field

SOLID locks in the moisture in the substrates on which it is applied.
SOLID is recommended whenever a coating should be laid onto surfaces with a moisture content higher than that permitted by the state of the art.
SOLID is used on:

  • sand and cement screeds (having either the consistency of moist soil or self- leveling);
  • industrial or cast consistency moist soil ;
  • diamond polished tiles of any kind and nature;
  • polished natural stone;
  • Venetian floors or polished tiles;

Furthermore, SOLID can also be used on surfaces that are not affected by moisture problems, but only to
create optimum "hooking" conditions on the surface for subsequent treatments, such as:

  • aluminum and galvanized steel;
  • wood of all kinds;
  • panels and insulators of all kinds (polystyrene EPS and XPS, plasterboard, etc..).

Substrates preparation
  • screeds and concrete must have a cohesive bearing surface and a tear strength greater than 1 MPa;
  • remove from the surface all substances that may impair adhesion;
  • tiles and natural stone must be diamond polished and free of dust;
  • polished floors should be cleaned with products specifically designed to remove waxes and protective
  • agents, if present and preferably mechanicallyroughened;
Product preparation

both room temperature and the substrate temperature must be greater than or equal to +4°C;

  • extrude into the bucket that came with the kit the componentA and component B with the appropriate
  • EXTRUDER, following the instructions given in the kit;
  • mix with a mechanical mixer at low speed;
  • measure the operating temperature: if less than +12°C add SOLID FAST (reaction accelerator) and
  • mix again;
  • during application respect the pot-life data shown in Table 1:

  • spread over the surface with a short haired roller (coverage: 300 g/m2);
  • fresh on fresh after coating 4÷5 m2 of the substrate, slightly broadcast with QUARTZ SAND 0.1-0.6 that comes with the KIT (coverage: 0.8 kg/m2);

 

To proceed with the application of subsequent layers wait for the crosslinking of the product using the times shown in Table 2:

*: If applied at a low temperature (less than +12 ° C), the mixture becomes more viscous: only in this case it is allowed to add 2% of water (on A + B).

Tool cleaning
  • if the product is stil fresh:with water;
  • after the product has dried: clean by mechanical means.

Warning and informations
  • This product is not capable of counteracting the movements of the substrate that occur in the form of cracks due to shrinkage or bending: the cracks, however, are not important for the purposes of locking in the moisture which is guaranteed.
  • In the case of high porosity screeds, outside the norm, you can use SOLID as pore filler by mixing quartz sand into the product and spreading it with a spatula.
  • In this specific case, after the first coat has hardened, the second coat can be properly applied. 
Preservation

24 months in its closed original container, in a dry place at temperatures between +5 and +35 ° C. The product is sensitive to frost.
