Plastic Expansion and Control Joints Profile

Description

BS PROFILE H 3 is a flexible co-extruded plastic profile that can be used for the realization of non-structural expansion and control joints by directly bonding  it to the screed or the concrete with BETONSEAL MS 2.0 sealant.

Being specifically designed for the realization of flush joints, BS PROFILE H 3 is used in combination with BETONGUAINA or BETONGUAINA.S / BRIGHT STONE systems (dimensions in mm shown in Fig.1):

Advantages

Profile:

  • is flexible and packed in rolls;
  • is installed by simply bonding it to the substrate with BETONSEAL MS 2.0 sealant after laying a base coat of  BETONSEAL PRIMER;
  • has anchoring side wings with pre-drilled holes to increase the profile-sealant coupling tightness;
  • its middle portion is made of a very flexible material capable of withstanding even large deformations;

Application

Profile Preparation:

  • ensure that the profile is intact and free from oil, grease or other similar substances;
  • apply BETONSEAL PRIMER rubbing with either tampon or cloth over the entire surface made of semi-transparent PVC and avoiding to make the coloured middle portion dirty:

if the temperature of the installation site is below 15°C, the profile must first be rolled out (up to the required length) and kept warm until the time of use. This procedure allows a proper lay out of the profile before installing it.

 

Profile Application:

once the screed has set, make a 80 mm wide and approx. 2.5 mm deep lowering over the joint, where the flush profile is to be inserted, using a grinding wheel (type Bosch GBR 14 CA) reinforced with a 80 mm diamond disc;

after shaping it as above-mentioned, the laying substrate shall be primed with NORPHEN FONDO IGRO:

allow 15-20 minutes to rest and then apply BETONSEAL MS 2.0 sealant to the treated substrate:

lay the profile over the joint and then press to make the sealant pass trough the side wings holes;

with the exclusion of the coloured middle portion, the anchoring wings shall be completely covered with BETONSEAL MS 2.0:

BETONGUAINA and BETONGUAINA.S waterproofing membranes shall be realized over the sealant when it is still fresh;

afterwards apply BRIGHT STONE PRIMER W and BRIGHT STONE following the given instructions:

Corner splice installation between profiles

Once the first part of the profile is installed (from fig.2 to fig.5), the end of the profile which is to be placed at the angle shall be modified by removing both the side wings (Part A) and the lower part of the middle portion (Part B) of the profile not to let the overlapping cause any height difference:

  • The profile can be cut with scissors or shears.
  • Do not apply at temperatures below +5°C.
  • Do not expose to storage in direct sunlight
