STRATOFLEX PU

Epoxy Floor Coating

Description

STRATOFLEX PU is a bicomponent product made up of:

  • component A: a mix of liquid epoxy prepolymers, pigments, additives and special inert material;
  • component B: copolymerization amine.

Once fully set, it offers remarkable hardness and flexibility, as well as high mechanical and thermal resistance. The product is additionally available in the STRATOFLEX SUPER version, also suitable as a finish coating.

Usage field

STRATOFLEX PU can be applied as a base layer (finished with NORPHEN 200, NORPHEN 200 HCR or STRATOFLEX SUPER) in the preparation of 1 to 7mm  thick floor coverings designed to withstand medium duty wheeled traffic, as well as frequent washing. That applies to the food processing industry, the light engineering industry, paper and textile industry, dye-works, printing works, kitchens and canteens.

Packaging

STRATOFLEX PU is available in 12 kg and 20 kg packs.

Substrates preparation
  • carefully examine the underfloor and make sure it provides a suitable and structurally sound base;
  • according to surface conditions, choose the most suitable treatment to be carried out:

- pressure hot water washing;
- acid washing;
- sanding;
- diamond wheel sanding;
- scarification;
- shot blasting.

That will allow to remove dust, dirt, grease, oil, old adhesives and paint, efflorescence, rust, mould and other foreign material.

  • Any surface depression or irregularity deeper than 3mm must be evened out with MALTA RAPIDA; on minor irregularities you can use NORPHEN FONDO SL, duly additioned with assorted particle size quartz sand.
Specific preparation
  • On a dry surface, apply a layer of NORPHEN FONDO or NORPHEN FONDO SW primer;
  • Fill up and seal any gap, if you want to eliminate them;
  • In the absence of a steam barrier, apply a layer of W3 (according to technical card instructions).
Product preparation

Preparing the product:

  • Pour component B into component A and mix well with a professional mixer.
Product application
  • Proceed to level and smooth over with a float using STRATOFLEX PU additioned with 0.1¸0.3 mm quartz sand;
  • Apply a self levelling layer of STRATOFLEX PU with added 0.3¸0.8 mm quartz sand;
  • Dust lightly;
  • When dry, sand down and remove any dust;
  • Finish off with NORPHEN 200, NORPHEN 200 HCR, STRATOFLEX SUPER or ESTER VE.

Slip resistance (grip performance) can vary according to the floor intended use.

Average Consumption

Average amount of product required per layer:

  • Levelling/smoothing with 0.1 - 0.3 mm quartz sand: 0.45 kg/m2
  • Self levelling with 0.3 - 0.8 mm quartz sand: 0.9 kg/m2
  • Finishing layer: 0.9 kg/m2.

Yield: For a 1 mm thick coating you will need 1.43 kg/m2 (A+B) product.
