NORDPUR SW TRASPARENTE

Two-component finish

Description

NORDPUR SW TRANSPARENTE is a water-based two-component polyurethane aliphatic product especially designed for creating particularly non-yellowing, tenacious, flexible and transparent finishes.

Applied to different types of surfaces, it realizes a smooth coating, that is both weathering and abrasion resistant and has a very attractive appearance.

Usage field

NORDPUR SW TRANSPARENTE is ideally suited to provide a finish and protective coating in the following cases:

  • coatings made from epoxy-based resin, polyurethane resin or epoxy cement over either floors or walls;

concrete floors or cement screeds also subject to light vehicular traffic, provided they are not used for parking of vehicles.

Application

Type of finish achievable with NORDPUR SW TRANSPARENTE

As a finish coat on resin coatings:

  • ensure that the area to receive the product is fully dry (at least 24 hours after laying) and clean;
  • sand using an abrasive mesh - 180 Grit - and completely dedust with a vacuum cleaner and, if necessary, wiping with a damp cloth;
  • apply NORDPUR SW TRANSPARENTE with either a roller or a sprayer, according to your preference;
  • possibly lay down a finishing coat of NORDPOWDER CERA.

Concrete surfaces:

  • the substrate shall be carefully checked to make sure it is a suitable and structurally sound base;
  • in the case of new flooring prior to the application check the laying substrate wettability, as water-repellent substances (oil or heavy hydrocarbons), sometimes used for either polishing or as an anti-evaporation barrier, can be present; in this case, wash with DESMOG A and then rinse thoroughly with water;
  • repeat the test and if the result is still negative, wash with STRIPPER. This could be necessary because many polishing products are made from paraffin;
  • in the case of old flooring proceed directly to washing with STRIPPER and mechanical brushing followed by rinsing. In this way dust, dirt and grease will be removed. In the case of oil impregnated concrete, old adhesives or paint, efflorescence, rust, mold, or other..., proceed with a diamond grinding;
  • fill any existing depression with GROVE RAPIDO and, if necessary, skim coat the surface with NORPHEN W3 IMPERMEABILIZZANTE;
  • consolidate the surface with NORPHEN SW SOLID diluted depending on the desired level of impregnation (see Technical Data Sheet);

wait at least 12 hours at 23°C, 50% RH and not less than 24 hours at 18°C, 65% RH; then apply NORDPUR SW TRANSPARENTE.\

Product preparation

Add NORDPUR SW TRANSPARENTE component B into component A, mix thoroughly with a mechanical professional mixer, then dilute the A+B mixture with water in a percentage comprised between 30 and 50% by weight of A+B bearing in mind that when the dilution increases, the product coverage decreases.

To finish W3 COLORATO, NORDPUR SW TRANSPARENTE can be diluted with up to 20% water on A+B, and should be applied only after its consolidation with NORPHEN SW SOLID (see Technical Data Sheet).

From the aesthetic point of view as the dilution increases, it gives rise to much more textured surfaces which ensure the spatolato cement will last longer. On the contrary, lower dilutions (around 10%) reduce the spatolato visual effect equalizing the chiaroscuro and reducing the materiality of the substrate.

Product application

Using a roller:

Either a short-haired roller or a solvent resistant foam roller can be used. The application can be done in a single coat, or in two coats spaced 6-8 hours apart (at 23°C, 50% RH).

With a Sprayer:

This product, particularly if diluted between 30 and 50% with water, can also be applied by spraying with either a spray gun or airless with a nozzle according to the approximate parameters shown in Table 1

Notes:

  • This product pot-life is not visible, the mixture must be diluted even if used within 40 min (at 23°C) and after that it is not possible to dilute the mixture another time to prolong its useful life.
  • On porous or microporous substrates, it is preferable to first apply a coat of NORPHEN SW SOLID  diluted with 3÷5 parts of water.

Generic substrates preparation
  • Do not exceed the coverage rate indicated per each coat: exceeding the limits will lead to difficulties and dishomogenity of crosslinking and a decrease in the final mechanical strengths.
  • Protect the treated substrate from rain in the first 12÷24 hours after application.
  • Keep the container of component B tightly closed during preliminary operations, as it is sensitive to atmospheric moisture.
  • Carefully read the Safety Data Sheet.
  • During spray application, wear protective clothing against aerosol product and dry powders, eye protection degree EN166 345 FT (according to EN166) and a dust mask FFP2 degree (according to EN149).

In case of application in confined spaces without aeration, wear semi-mask with filter FFA2P3 and favour as much as possible the exchange of air.
