LEVEL FINO

Cementitious Self-Levelling Compound
for Substrate Skim Coating

Description

LEVEL FINO is a premixed powder that gives rise to a self-levelling, very fluid cementitious mixture ideally suited for highly resistant and fast curing skim coating to be carried out on new or old substrates.

The product has a remarkable ability to hang on all types of substrates commonly found in the building industry. We recommend, however, to prepare the base with specific primers, as indicated below, before the casting of LEVEL FINO.

Usage field

LEVEL FINO is used,  prior to any further coating application, as a fast, self-levelling skim coat which thickness must not be lower than 3 mm if a subsequent installation of high tensile strength materials (such as flooring, wall-thickness resin, etc..) is scheduled.

LEVEL FINO is also used as a finish coat with thickness up to 10 mm per coat, on:

  • sand and cement screeds, SC 1, SC 1-R or SC 1-BASE and sand screeds, on evenly absorbing surfaces: if necessary, prime with NORPHEN SW SOLID (see below);
  • natural calcium sulphate screeds or synthetic anhydrite screeds after treatment with NORPHEN SW SOLID;
  • existing ceramic, marble, natural stone, wood, clinker, stoneware floors after RICRETE 1C treatment.

Application

Preparation of the Surface

  • the screed must be carefully checked to determine weather it is suitable to receive LEVEL FINO: in particular the compressive strength shall not be lower than 20 MPa and the pull-off shall not be lower than 1.5 MPa;
  • the surfaces to be treated should be stable, perfectly cohesive, free of any agents might prevent LEVEL FINO adhesion, and evenly absorbing;
  • old tiled or natural stone surfaces should be washed with NORDECAL FORTE and then rinsed, or (alternatively) polished with a diamond disc wheel;

Calcium sulphate and synthetic anhydrite screeds shall be prepared as follows:

  • sand and vacuum up the dust;
  • prepare NORPHEN SW SOLID (coverage: 50 g/m2 approximately) and dilute with 4 parts water;
  • generously pour the product onto the surface, let it seep into it and then remove it with a rubber spatula;

On wooden surfaces, proceed as follows:

  • remove all traces of old paint by sanding;
  • secure any loose strip by nailing it;
  • fit to the substrate a 160 g/m2 (or better, 370 g/m2) glass mesh with:

a) a coat of NORPHEN RICRETE generously broadcasting (but not to excess) wet-on-wet quartz sand sized 0.7 - 1.2 mm; in this particular case LEVEL FINO can be cast after 5-6 hours;

b) alternatively by stapling, in which case LEVEL FINO can be cast immediately.

Moreover:

  • to increase both resistance to compression and tensile adhesion of the sand and cement screed, one coat of NORPHEN SW SOLID shall be applied after dilution with 6-8 parts of water the day before casting;
  • to seal cracks or even out small holes NORPHEN FONDO SL INVERNALE (Winter) shall be used thickened with approx. 3% SILICA, about an hour prior to casting (at 20°C);
  • on cracked concrete, cracks that should not be transferred to the product shall be widened and filled to excess in two or three subsequent coats, 2÷3 hours apart from each other, with NORPHEN FONDO SL INVERNALE, making sure at each step that any excess product is removed with a triangular spatula.
