Self-leveling Mortar for Substrate Smoothing

LEVEL HB is a monocomponent powder that, when additioned with water, yields a very fluid, self-leveling cement mixture, providing highly resistant and fast setting smoothing layers, on new or old substrates.

The product shows remarkable adhesion to all types of substrates normally found in the building industry.

Thanks to its special formulation, it can be used both indoors and outdoors, with only a few limitations due to substrate conditions.

Usage field

LEVEL HB is used as a fast setting, self-leveling smoothing coat, in layers up to 30 mm thick at a time, for:

  • Sand and concrete screeds,  SC 1, SC 1-R and SC 1-BASE and sand screeds, with no priming;
  • Synthetic anhydrite screeds, after priming with NORPHEN SW SOLID;
  • Existent ceramic, marble, natural stone, wood, clinker, stoneware floors.

LEVEL HB is available in 25 kg bags, on 56 bag pallets.

Preparing the underlying surface:

  • The substrate must be carefully checked;
  • The surface must be stable, perfectly coherent, devoid of anything that might prevent LEVEL HB adhesion, and evenly absorbing;
  • Old tiled or natural stone surfaces must be washed with NORDECAL FORTE and rinsed, or alternatively sanded with a diamond wheel;
  • On a wood surface, scrape off any old paint and apply a layer of NORPHEN SW SOLID.
  • If you need to consolidate, apply one layer of NORPHEN SW SOLID diluted with 3 parts water, 4¸6 hours before pouring the product (at 20°C);
  • For uniform substrate absorption, apply one layer of NORDLATEX VA diluted with 3 parts water, 2-3 hours before pouring the product;
  • Even out any hole with MALTA RAPIDA, 1 hour before pouring the product;
  • Fill any crack with MALTA RAPIDA comp.A + comp.B (without comp.C) thickened with SILICA, 1 hour before pouring the product;
  • On anhydrite screeds, apply one hand of NORPHEN SW SOLID diluted 3 times in water;
  • On wooden floors, secure any loose strip and reinforce with a 370 g/m² GLASS MESH fixed to the substrate.

Preparing the overlying surface:

  • Take special care when dealing with sand and cement substrates: screeds must be highly resistant and coherent (we recommend applying one layer of  NORPHEN SW SOLID to consolidate);
  • Always even out any existing tiling and apply a layer of NORPHEN SW SOLID;
  • Do not use the product on steep slopes.
  • Block any drain before proceeding;

Preparing the product

Pour 4.50 - 4.75 litres water into a suitable container and add one bag of LEVEL HB, mixing with a professional mixer until you get  a perfectly homogeneous mixture.

Pouring the mixture

Pour the product onto the surface and spread with a 48 cm steel spatula, smooth or toothed.

If necessary, a second layer should be applied as soon as the first has hardened enough to work on. In order to obtain a good adhesion for the second layer, sand down the first layer with a suitable wheel 6 hours after hardening.

Information on use and laying procedures

  • The product is treadable after about  6-8 hours at 20°C.
  • Wait 24-48 hours before laying tiles.
  • Wait a week to lay parquet, rubber, linoleum and carpet.

Warning and informations
  • Always wet the laying surface before product application in the hot season or in outdoor environments, and in any case during the 24 hours after application;
  • Do not apply to surfaces that are expected to freeze in the next 24 hours;
  • Do not apply in layers thinner than 3 - 4 mm to substrates destined to receive parquet floors.

If stored in a dry place the product will keep for at least 9 months.
