W3 IMPERMEABILIZZANTE

Three Component Epoxy Coating

Description

W3 IMPERMEABILIZZANTE  is a tricomponent product made up of:

  • component A: an aqueous dispersion of liquid epoxy prepolymers, additives and special inert material;
  • component B: an aqueous dispersion of  copolymerization polyamines and additives;
  • component C: cement powder.

The product was specifically designed to provide a smoothing layer characterized by high standard adhesion (especially on wet and tiled surfaces), and good resistance to water negative pressure even in wet conditions.

Usage field

W3 IMPERMEABILIZZANTE can be put to different uses according to the underlying surface and the type of job involved.

Underlying surface type:

  • the ideal surface is concrete cast on site, precast concrete, sand and cement plasters and tiling, even in damp conditions, provided the moisture content is not so high as to prevent polymer setting.

Job type:

  • standard smoothing of surfaces prior to resin coating;
  • on concrete floors, where the upper hard layer needs restoring, especially in outdoor environments;
  • on concrete floors, when there is a need to level out small holes or imperfections on the finishing layer, even with rising dampness;
  • in swimming pools, with or without glass reinforcement, to level out walls and bottom before laying tiles, even in the presence of rising dampness.
  • once reinforced with glass mesh, the product can be used to level resin floors showing a danger of rising dampness;

Application
  • Carefully examine the underlayment and make sure it provides a suitable and structurally sound base, in particular when you have to work on surfaces that, in operating conditions, may be affected by negative water pressure because of high humidity levels.
  • Choose the most suitable treatment according to surface conditions:

- Washing with high pressure hot water;
- acid washing;
- sanding;
- diamond wheel sanding;
- scarification;
- shot blasting.

  • That will allow to remove dust, dirt, grease, oil, old adhesives and paint, efflorescence, rust, mould and other foreign material.
  • Any surface irregularity or depression more than 5¸10 mm deep must be evened out with GROVE RAPIDO.
Product preparation
  • pour W3 IMPERMEABILIZZANTE component B into component A and mix well with a slow speed professional mixer;
  • pour component C into the resulting mixture and mix thoroughly to obtain a perfectly homogeneous preparation;
  • if necessary, you can dilute the (A+B) mix with 5-10% water (in weight) before adding the powder, to obtain a very fine smoothing effect (this is usually done for the last, finishing layer);
  • leave to rest for a few minutes, then apply with a steel spatula.
Product application

Standard smoothing

  • Apply one layer of NORPHEN SW SOLID, duly diluted with an amount of water equal to 4 - 5 times the product’s initial weight;
  • Half an hour later, and in any case before the next 6 hours, apply a first layer of W3 IMPERMEABILIZZANTE with a steel float; you can also add a reinforcing mesh, if suitable
  • The day after apply one or two finishing layers, according to the required finishing standard.

Restoring an industrial floor surface

  • The operation is usually carried out after fully or partially removing the upper hard quartz layer (preferably with the use of a scarifying machine):
  • Apply a layer of NORPHEN SW SOLID, duly diluted with an amount of water equal to 4 - 5 times the product’s initial weight;
  • Half an hour later, and in any case within the next 6 hours, apply a first layer of W3 IMPERMEABILIZZANTE with a steel float, adding c. 50% (in weight) 0.3 - 0.8 mm quartz sand;
  • The day after apply (at room temperature) a second layer additioned with 50% (in weight) 0.1 - 0.3 mm quartz sand;
  • On the third day add a third layer of plain product, without any quartz sand;
  • If required, finish off with a layer of NORPHEN SW SMALTO, diluted with water at will and applied with an airless spray for uniform surface colour.
