Mono component gray adhesive for Tile and Natural Stone EN 12004 - C2 F TE S2

Description

MONOTACK®FLEXORAPID  is a highly deformable, fast setting, gray, single-component adhesive for ceramic tiles and natural stone with extended open time and limited slip, consisting of cement and silica sand of selected granulometry, resins and special additives.

It shall be prepared by mixing with the only addition of water at the time of laying.

MONOTACK®FLEXORAPID  is CE marked according to EN 12004, class C2 F TE S2 since it is:

  • a cementitious (C ) improved (2) adhesive suitable for outdoor applications;
  • fast-setting ( F );
  • slip-resistant (T);
  • with extended open time (E );
  • highly deformable (S2).

Usage field

MONOTACK®FLEXORAPID  is designed for bonding, even overlapping, stones and tiles of small, medium and large size to either walls or floors, with adhesive thicknesses up to 15 mm.

MONOTACK®FLEXORAPID  is a very quick setting/hardening adhesive and it is therefore recommended for the installation of artifacts that should be put into operation after a few hours from application.

Type of substrates:

  • both rendered and with painted render interior walls and floors;
  • plasterboard (rigidly supported) or fiber cement walls and small concrete blocks;
  • exterior walls covered with mortar or render;
  • either premixed or traditional screeds and self-levelling cement-based screeds;
  • gypsum and anhydrite screeds only after treatment with RICRETE 1C;
  • concrete;
  • radiant floors;
  • old tiled floors with porcelain tiles, glazed ceramic tiles or reconstituted tiles;
  • walls and floors waterproofed with BETONGUAINA, BETONGUAINA.S and NORTIG or other single-component polymeric systems in water dispersion.

MONOTACK®FLEXORAPID is ideally suited for use with the following materials:

  • marble, granite, siliceous and carbonate rocks of a dark color;
  • reconstituted stone (excluding reconstitutions with high resin content as for instance the o Venetian terrace and enbeddments);
  • single-fired and double fired ceramic tiles;
  • stoneware tiles, porcelain stoneware tiles and clinker of any format;
  • terracotta;
  • mesh backed vitreous and ceramic;

insulating panels and soundproof panels (spot bonding)

Do not apply:

  • to marbles and natural stones subject to water and / or efflorescence staining;
  • to wood;
  • to natural stones that are subject to strong expansion when subjected to wetting;
  • to linoleum and PVC if prepared without having first washed the substrate with STRIPPER and carried out NORPHEN FONDO IGRO treatment by lightly broadcasting with quartz sand 0.1 to 0.6 and having tested the substrate tensile strength;
  • to rubber flooring;
  • to galvanized or aluminum metal sheets;

 To Skim Coat a Laying Surface:

  • on interior walls, either RASANTE 1100 or RASANTE 1200 shall be used;
  • on interior floors, either LEVEL FINO or  LEVEL HB shall be used, while on sloped surfaces GROVE MASSETTO should be applied;
  • on exterior floors use  GROVE MASSETTO and on exterior walls RASANTE 2000 2K;
  • cracks must be mended with the same method used for the joints.

Substrates preparation
  • first ensure that the new substrates are properly cured: the screed drying shrinkage must be complete and plasters should have been applied 15 days before (for 2 cm ticknesses). If a sand a cement screed must be fast cured, insert FAST FLUID into the mixture;
  • The fractioning joints made during casting can be removed with the seam (see BETONGUAINA Technical Data Sheet) if low thickness materials are to be laid;
  • thoroughly clean and remove all loose particles, oils, grease, paint and anything that can prevent proper adhesion of the glue from all substrates;
  • ensure that the substrate does not show any sign of rising damp;
  • In case of rising damp the substrate shall be primed with either Q PRIMER or Q-RASANTE.
  • If the surface shows evidence of chalk, into its depth, the day before proceed with the consolidation using a product based on solvent like NORPHEN FONDO IGRO, however, if chalking is only skin deep, consolidate with 1 coat of NORPHEN SW SOLID diluted 4-5 times in water .
  • for bonding carried out by overlapping on top of old polished floors it is recommended to abrade the surface with a diamond cup wheel type Bosch GBR 14 CA.
Product preparation
  • pour the mixing water (approx 6.25 liters / bag) in an appropriate mixing container and enter the adhesive; mix with low speed mixer (500 ÷ 600 RPM) reinforced with an impeller suitable to the dimensions of the bucket until a smooth paste without lumps is obtained;
  • after about 6 - 7 minutes of rest, re-mix and the adhesive paste is ready for the application that may be carried out within the following 50 minutes (at 20 ° C and 50% Relative Humidity);
  • the adhesive should always be spread over the surface in a thin, even layer using the smooth side of the trowel;
  • the desired layer shall be applied using a notched trowel to match the size of the tile, as specified here below.

Spatula Type

  • mosaics and small formats: spatula no.4;
  • formats up to 30x30cm: spatula no.5;
  • large formats (more than 30x30cm): spatula no.6.
Product application

How to Install Tiles

  • Proceed with the tiles installation, making sure to press (even using a rubber hammer) to allow the wider anchoring area wetting;
  • If the tile formats are greater than 30x30 cm, in case of tiles subject to water immersion or in the case of radiant floors, buttering is recommended  as well as for outdoors laying and in areas where intensive truck and pedestrian traffic is expected. However, in all cases, the total area of the tile back side mus be wet with the mixture.

Mixture Checking

  • Check weather conditions while working, taking into consideration that a hot, dry and windy day will reduce the product open time; In case of superficial film formation, it should be removed by applying just a little amount of MONOTACK®FLEXORAPID and refreshing the layer by spreading over again with a notched spatula.

Joints

  • Any fractioning joints should be made approximately every 25 m2 indoors and 10-12 m 2 outdors.
  • Concerning the hallways and balconies consider a joint approximatly every 6-8 m of length.
  • Structural and expansion joints should be raised to surface.
Tool cleaning

Tools can be cleaned with water when fresh. Cured material can only be removed mechanically.
