MONOTACK H BOND

Mono-Component Tile Adhesive

Description

MONOTACK H BOND is a mono-component adhesive for tiles, composed of cement, sand of selected granulometry, resins and special additives.

It shall be prepared by mixing with the only addition of water at the time of installation. It is easily workable and, once fully cured, it exhibits excellent frost resistance.

MONOTACH H BOND is classified as C2TE according to EN 12004 since it is:

  • a cementitious (C), improved (2) adhesive highly suited for outdoor laying;
  • slip resistant (T);
  • with extended open time (E);
  • highly deformable (S2).

MONOTACK H BOND is specifically designed for the installation of stone, ceramic and vitreous floors and coatings of any size as well as for overlapping old tiles, whenever it is desirable to obtain a high system deformability with thicknesses up to 15 mm.

Due to its deformability characteristics, MONOTACK H BOND, can be used also to install tiles by directly gluing them   down over the waterproofing sheet.

Usage field

Substrates Typologies

MONOTACK H BOND can be applied to:

  • interior walls/floors with either rendering or painted rendering as well as to unstable substrates without the need to preventively level the laying surface;
  • plasterboard (rigidly supported), walls made of fibre cement and small cement slabs;
  • exterior walls coated with either rendering or mortar;
  • pre-mixed or traditional screeds and self-levelling screeds;
  • gypsum, anhydride screeds and wood, but only after treating the laying surface with RICRETE 1C;
  • concrete;
  • radiant floors;
  • old tiled floors;
  • walls/floors waterproofed with BETONGUAINA or BETONGUAINA.S or NORTIG  or other mono-component polymeric systems in aqueous dispersion.

MONOTACK H BOND  is highly suitable for use with:

  • single-and double-fired ceramic tiles;
  • stoneware tiles, porcelain stonewareand clinker tiles of any size;
  • terracotta;
  • glass or ceramic mosaic on mesh backings;
  • any section with a very hollow profile;
  • insulation boards and soundproof panels (spot-gluing).

Do not use on:

  • concrete cured for less than 6÷9 months or prefabricated;
  • anhydrite screed, gypsum or wood without pre-treatment with RICRETE 1C;
  • plasterboard without priming with RIVLATEX;
  • substrates with excessive shrinkage-expansion movement and rubber floorings.

Substrates preparation
  • perform a thorough cleaning on all substrates with the utmost care, removing all loose parts, oils, grease, paint and any other thing could prevent a proper adhesion of the adhesive; Substrates must be sufficiently dry;
  • if deep chalking has taken place on the surface, proceed with the consolidation with a 1:5 water dilution of NORPHEN SW SOLID or with NORPHEN FONDO IGRO;
  • if the substrate suffers from rising damp, it shall be primed with  either Q-PRIMER or Q-RASANTE;
Product preparation
  • pour the mixing water (about 7.0 litres / bag) into an appropriate mixing container, and enter the adhesive;
  • mix with a low revolutions mixer (500 to 600 rpm) until a homogeneous mixture free of lumps is achieved;
  • after about 5 ÷ 7 minutes of rest without adding water, re-mix the mixture must and proceed with the laying of the adhesive.
Product application
  • The adhesive should be always spread on the surface in a thin, even layer using the smooth side of the trowel;
  • apply the desired layer with a notched trowel choosing the appropriate, right size notches according to the thickness to be  achieved.

Tile Installation

Proceed with the tiles installation, making sure to press them to ensure full wetting of the anchoring area.

It is advisable to lay tiles with a format greater than 30x30 cm, that are designed to be subjected to heavy loading or to be submerged under water or to be laid on radiant floors, using the double-spreading technique; the mixture must always fully wet the backside of the tile.

Mixture Checking

Make sure that critical temperature conditions (wind and low humidity) do not cause any reduction of the mixture open time.

Any film formation on the surface must be eliminated by applying a  small amount of fresh glue with the notched trowel.

Tool cleaning

Tools can be cleaned with water if the product is still fresh or by mechanical means if it has hardened.
