Tile Adhesive

MONOTACK SUPER is a single-component adhesive for tiles made up of cement, sand of selected granulometry and special additives.

It shall be prepared by mixing with the only addition of water at the time of installation.

At this stage the product becomes an easily workable, high adhesion and thixotropic mortar with no vertical slip. It also exhibits excellent open time characteristics, and once fully cured, good resistance to atmospheric agents (water, ice and salt) and adhesion on all kind of cement-based substrates.

MONOTACK SUPER is classified according to EN 12004 as class C2T since:

  • it is a cementitious (C) improved (2) adhesive suitable for  outdoor application (after adding BETONLATEX to the mixing water) with reduced slip (T).

MONOTACK SUPER performance can be significantly increased by adding BETONLATEX instead of the only mixing water.

Usage field

Types of Substrates

MONOTACK SUPER can be used:

  • on traditional walls and ceilings covered with exterior render;
  • on floor with sand and cement-based screeds sufficiently cured (e.g.: 45 days for 6 cm screeds).

Types of tiles:

  • single-and double-fired ceramic tiles;
  • stoneware and clinker tiles;
  • terracotta;
  • mesh backed ceramic mosaics (after adding BETONLATEX to the mixing water).

Do not use:

  • on concrete;
  • on substrates with excessive shrinkage-expansion movement (such as wood, metal, etc..);
  • on cellular concrete and radiant floors;
  • on non-absorbent mosaics.

Tile Adhesive

Substrates preparation
  • on all substrates perform a thorough cleaning with the utmost care, eliminating all loose parts, oils, grease, paint and any other thing could prevent a proper adhesion of the adhesive;
  • ensure that the substrate does not show any sign of rising damp;
  • In case of proven deep chalking, proceed with reinforcing all areas with a solvent based product like NORPHEN FONDO IGRO; if instead chalking is only merely superficial consolidate the areas laying 1 coat of NORPHEN SW SOLID appropriately diluted with water in the ratio 4:5;
  • to smooth any interior wall surfaces use RASANTE 1100 or 1200 and on the interior floor surface use the smoothing compounds LEVEL FINO for thicknesses up to 10 mm and LEVEL HB for thicknesses up to 30 mm.
  • to smooth an exterior wall or floor surface, use RASANTE 2000 2K or in special cases LEVEL FINO.
  • on gypsum, anhydrite and gypsum board the substrate should be pre-treated with a coat of RICRETE 1C.
Product preparation

pour the water mixture (7 litres / bag 25 kg) into an appropriate mixing container and enter MONOTACK SUPER;

  • mix with a low revolutions mixer (500 to 600 rpm) until an homogeneous mixture free of lumps is achieved;
  • Allow to stand for approx. 5 minutes, then re-mix an other time and the adhesive dough is ready to be used.
Product application

How to Lay the Mixture

Depending on the type of tile and the type of substrate an appropriate notched trowel shall be chosen.

First of all, however, the adhesive should be spread on the surface in a thin, even layer using the smooth side of the trowel for uniform absorption and, above all, to take full advantage of the product open time.

Tile Installation

If the material does not produce dust in the contact area, there is no need to wet it; proceed with the tiles installation, making sure to press them (even using a rubber hammer) in order to facilitate the contact with the adhesive and wetting an area as large as possible.

On tiles larger than 25x25cm apply a double spread coating during exterior tile installation if frequent winter frosts is expected.

Checking the Mixture

As we proceed with the installation, check that there is no film formation, especially when working in hot weather and windy: if needed, apply a little amount of fresh glue and stir the all thing without neither adding water nor wetting with water.

Tool cleaning

Tools shall be cleaned with water if the product is still fresh, once it has hardened it can be removed only by mechanical means.

Tile Adhesive

Average Consumption

Coverage can vary from 2 to 5 or more kg / m² depending on the material to be laid and the type of substrate.

Do not exceed in any case the 7 - 8 kg / m².

Warning and informations

Do not apply any type of adhesive on screeds that are too hot due to the extremely hot summer temperature: wet with water to lower the temperature and proceed with the installation preferably in the afternoon.

Do not apply any adhesive to surfaces that are frozen or are expected to freeze in the next 24 hours.

  • Do not apply the adhesive directly on substrates made of gypsum and anhydrite, but only after a period ranging from 2 to 4 hours after treating them with RICRETE 1C.
  • In the case of areas subject to runoff (e.g.: bathrooms, shower rooms, etc..) coat all surfaces with BETONGUAINA before bonding the tile.
  • Apply at temperatures between +5 and +35 ° C.
  • Joints sealing: on the wall after 6 ¸ 12 hours, on floor after 24 hours.
  • The surface will be treadable in 24¸36 hours.
  • Complete Cure: 12 - 15 days.

12 months when stored in original packaging, in a dry area out of direct sunlight between +5 ° C and +35 °C.

The product is humidity sensitive.
